Start in Your Yard / Wild Ones of Kane County

The Elgin Izaak Walton League will be hosting the local initiative Start In Your Yard at the Hanover Township Izaak Walton Center located at 899 Jay St, Elgin, IL 60120.

Start in Your Yard is a growing initiative begun by Greater Kane County chapter of Wild Ones. They understand that the the region has become disconnected from the natural world, and our place in it, with disastrously consequences. Recognizing that the region is part of a great web, they are moved to become cooperative partners and share the land where we all live.

To begin, Start in Your Yard wants to replace some the of the endless lawn with native grasses, flowers, trees, and shrubs. They don't need to wait for governmental action. They want to remind us, that has homeowners, we are all empowered. We can step out today and begin making changes to provide respite for the biodiversity we displacing.

Start in Your would like to expand upon these ideas and talk about what is taking place in the Elgin area.
